This is a terrible idea. Encouraging people to not play with others isn't good. Punishing players who do play with others is bad. Vanquishing is incredibly dull. Giving less rewards to people who do it with others (which makes it faster and gives you someone to talk to) makes no sense whatsoever.
EDIT: Also, this is going to overlap massively with the existing titles.

While I love the name of the title, I agree with Marty. Nothing about this is a good idea. You can't have titles based on how you prefer to play the game, especially one that interferes with existing titles.
P.S. I never understood the term lone wolf either, wolves are extremely social creatures that rarely live outside a pack.

No more titles! Several of the existing ones are still crappy enough that adding more shouldn't even be on the list. Plus there's already a title dying repeatedly over and over and over and then killing some stuff (LDoA) which is a much better idea.
Oh and yeah, its a multi-player game, so why encourage people to do things solo?

I love the concept too, but I'll side with marty and Uriel. I fear this would lead to cry from those who did the titls and need them again as I don't think the game kept track of the number of player in your party. And I fear seeing this :
- Hey guildies, what are you all doing
- VQing (2-3 times)
-can I come?
- No, going for lone wolf (2-3 times)
MIght be possible for "small tasks" like Elite areas or missions (maybe), but definately not something as long as vanquishes.

More of this.
Plus, with seven heroes coming to the Live servers soon, it's going to be easier than ever to do something like this.

I think sometimes in nature wolves go "rogue" and strike out on their own... becoming very aggressive and dangerous to people. I'm pretty sure that explains the etymology of the phrase "lone wolf", though of course its meaning has shifted over time.

A "lone wolf" is one that is kicked out of its pack. Wolves don't "go rouge".
So for this title to make sense, you would have to achieve it by being kicked out of 1,000,000 PuGs.

The book series your proposed title references has a single protagonist that never has substantial assistance.
If you must reward solo play - no H/H, but whatever cons you want.
The title would be a lot more work than other solo titles such as Survivor, so I don't think that you're likely to be discouraging group play with a title like this.

I agree with you about the title.
I believe it's called "lone wolf" because of the fact that wolves are normally very social, pack-oriented animals...much like humans to an extent. So, a lone wolf would be very unusual in that it is socially isolated, as a human would be if they were called a "lone wolf".

it was never set in stone that you were to play the game with others
with the recent rise of idiots in game, H/H is actually better than PUGs anyway
besides, i prefer H/H
so yes /signed
though i know it aint gonna happen

That is maybe a title for another game and lone is lone as in alone so no heroes or Henchmen.
As a title it makes more sense than say legendary defender of ascalon which I abhor with a passion.
Love to know who thought that one up so I could give them a slap.
Unfortunately we have a few pointless and stupid titles and were I able to travel back in time I would happily replace one of those with your idea.

I play alone.
And I think Guild wars is designed so you could work through it both ways. So if there is a title for doing it solo, then there should be a title for doing it with others too. don't see much sense in it unless there is already a title for playing with others but not one for playing solo.

I could be wrong but im guessing the majority of players who have been on gw longer than 1 - 2 yrs ( many vets in other words ) have done probably all missions in hm etc with just h/h and without cons.Does anyone remember the days of doing uw with heros and consets and consumables were not even heard of or used ?
I did NF on a mes with just h/h - why may you ask ... i was bored and wanted to see exactly how hard it would be using a chr im not familair with.
New players need to pug so they can learn game mechanics - havin a daft title means they wont pug and wont really learn much.
/notsigned - coz years ago gw was played by real men ( or women ) without needing sc + consets or playing just h/h all way thru.

I'm not against playing alone in any way.
But I don't think I title should be added for it.
In any case, a title for making things with people would be better, like a title that gives you 10 points for each mission completed without heroes (excepting the required ones), 15 points for vanquishes, 25 points for elite missions, 5 points for completing the minimum points in each challenge once with people...
And you could call it: "The Fellowship" title track or something like that.
That would be more or less fine.
But for playing solo?
Nah.
